Kodiak's Role:
Creative direction
Digital strategy
Lead UX/UI design
Designing for the first digital president.
As creative director and lead designer at the White House, Kodiak led and managed all design projects. His boss was Barack Obama. His mission was to connect people with purpose; to engage in a conversation with the American public and build an emotional relationship that drove them to take action.
He helped develop, define and express the White House brand across channels. This involved rethinking the White House digital presence from the ground up, including new tools, platforms, systems and branding.

The Right to Petition is a Constitutional Right
In its final clause, the First Amendment of the Constitution protects the right of the American people “to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” It’s right up there along religion, speech, press and assembly.
We the People brings that uniquely American tradition into the 21st century. This platform, taken down by the Trump administration, wan online presence that’s about engagement and conversation, and not just about broadcast and monologue.
Millions of people have petitioned the White House for answers about the Syrian refugee crisis or the Iranian nuclear deal (and even proposed building a “Star Wars”-inspired Death Star) through We the People.
Platform statistics:
Total Users: 19,500,000+
Total Signatures: 27,700,000+
Total Petitions: 411,500+
